The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region | Union Construction (Group) Limited and On Kit Scaffold Engineering Limited have been fined $157,000 and $171,000 respectively at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations.
The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department. The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on 13 October 2024, at a school in Ho Man Tin.
A scaffolder, while dismantling a bamboo scaffold at the external walls of the school, was suspected to have fallen from height to the ground. He passed away on the same day.
