Hong Kong | Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region | Hai Shun (Fung) Engineering Company Limited has been fined $125,000 at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts for violating the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on 5 November 2024, at an industrial building in To Kwa Wan.

While dismantling a truss-out bamboo scaffold and its metal brackets on the external wall of the building, a scaffolder fell from 11/F to 1/F, together with a detached metal bracket to which the scaffolder’s safety harness was attached. He was certified dead on the same day.
