The ‘Golden Thread’ is defined as “both the information that allows you to understand a building and the steps needed to keep both the building and people safe, now and in the future”.
The requirement for the Golden Thread is part of the UK government’s response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy in which 72 people lost their lives in 2017 and forms part of the requirements set out by the Building Safety Act 2022.
